In late 2009,
The IOC made several decisions which have annoyed/angered many across the world.
The biggest mistake was choosing Golf & Rugby over Karate. I mean seriously, what is the point of adding these to the Games???
Golf has: The Ryder Cup, The PGA, The Omega etc... Too many to count which are already widely known and BIGGER than the Olympics.
Rugby has: The Six Nations, The IRB World Cup, IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens, Magners League etc.... Too Many to Count and BIGGER than the Olympics.
Judo was accepted in 1964
Taekwondo was accepted in 2000
Why not Karate? Taekwondo is the descendant of this art and I think it is unfair that it hasn't been adopted, Golf and Rugby have enough coverage and tournaments.

As a relatively old style, my Parent Martial art School is not so common in the Uk. My Sensei, Mr Symmonds, trained with several Oriental Masters while serving with the Merchant Navy in the Far East. He called the style Shorin Te or Shorin Ji Karate. He taught me six Kihon Kata, and then three kata for my Dan grade.
Also I was taught two Nunchaku Kata, and was awarded Nidan in the summer of 2000. Does anyone else study this style?
I have a Question. How do you gain fitness after not training for a while? When you get older this is not so easy. What is the best program for a gradual increase in fitness and focus, even commitment afer the pounds have been put on? Do you go at it by sparring an hour a day? Running four miles before breakfast? Or a more gentle approach? My Tip is good enrgetic Kata and Kihon, letting them do what they are supposed to do and mabe fine tuning your technique. Any Suggestions?
This Group is for everyone who studies the art of Shukokai Karate (way for all translated to english).
Shukokai Karate is the most recent and most effective style of karate for speed, power and balance.
It originates from the traditional style of shito ryu karate. Master Chojiru Tani developed Shukokai with his head coach and world chief instructor Shigeru Kimura who helped develop the style and bring Shukokai Karate to Europe.
This is just a very brief history of shukokai. Please express on this group if you use the traditional techniques of training for Shukokai, whats your favourite aspect of the training, favourite technique/combination.
ALl discussion on Shukokai karate is welcome.
